August Topic – Bluetooth Low Energy for Xamarin Developers

There are a lot of wireless protocols out there for engineers and product designers to use, but what makes Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) so interesting is that it’s almost certainly the easiest way to design something that can talk to any modern mobile platform out there.  BLE is a light-weight subset of classic Bluetooth and was introduced as part of the Bluetooth 4.0 core specification.  In this session, we’ll learn about the basic building blocks of BLE and how to communicate with peripheral devices from a Xamarin app.

Tom Soderling is a .NET developer who discovered Xamarin four years ago and jumped at the chance to write apps for his iPhone using C#.
He is a Xamarin Certified Mobile Developer, a Xamarin.Forms enthusiast, and author of “How Deep Is It?”, a utility app for measuring distance with accelerometer-enabled smart phones.  He’s currently a Sr. Mobile Apps Developer at Polaris Industries, working to improve the off-road riding experience through innovative software like the Ride Command app.
